IEEE 125th Anniversary Celebrations from IEEE-GCUF on 13th May

HAPPY 125th Anniversary, IEEE
IEEE completed it's 125 Years of Engineering the future and serving the humanity. 13th May, 2009 is official anniversary date of IEEE.
Keeping in mind IEEE-GCUF planned number of activities to celebrate IEEE 125th Anniversary in a better and productive way. IEEE-GCUF has two chapters under the branch. One is WIE -GCUF Affinity Group and second is IEEE Computer Society GCUF. Each Chapter of IEEE-GCUF celebrated anniversary with different activity.
IEEE-GCUF initiated a new activity and celebrated 125th Anniversary with students of High School in a remote area named "PAKKA ANNA" (Near Toba Tek Singh). IEEE-GCUF planned a career development program for students of High School, who don't have enough facilities and exposure so that they can plan their future in better way. A motivational talk to students was given by Mr. Amir Zahoor. Students also asked questions regarding their future in different fields.
A Quiz Session was arranged on basics of engineering subjects with student and prizes were distributed. IEEE Promotional material i.e. scale, high lighter, Candies and puzzles were distributed among the students. This session was followed by a puzzle round. Students were asked to make a box of a puzzle. Fastest one will be the winner. Prizes also distributed to three winning teams. Visit was ended with a group photo with teachers and IEEE-GCUF Team.
WIE-GCUF organized an activity of community services and visited a "Cripple House" in Faisalabad. Most of the children there were handicapped. WIE-GCUF team visit and spend time there. They had an interactive session there with these students and also distributed some chocolates and some gifts from WIE-GCUF.
Student Members of Bio-Informatics department also participated in these celebrations and arranged an indoor activity by arranging a seminar and discussions on “Bio-Engineering” topic.
Newly established Computer Society IEEE-GCUF also celebrated anniversary with a two day workshop on "File Handling and Graphics". 13th May, 2009 was first day of workshop. Registration counter of workshop was 55. Workshop was initiated on 13th May, 2009 and ended on 14th May, 2009.
At the end of day 13th May, we had a closing ceremony of 125th Anniversary Celebrations. In this ceremony all student members of IEEE-GCUF and its subunits were combined and shared their views with an on-spot general knowledge quiz competition.
At the end of the day, a cake for the IEEE 125th Anniversary was there and distributed to all members of IEEE-GCUF.
On 14th May, 2009 at the 2nd day of IEEE CompSoc workshop, a closing ceremony of all the celebrations was held. Mr. Waqas Ahmad (Vice Chairperson IEEE-GCUF) presented there two different topics, 1st was "The History of IEEE and Electro-Technologies" and 2nd was "How to use IEEE 125th Anniversary Website". He appreciated the efforts of all student members to organize and participate in such kind of activities. He congratulated branch and said the closing words for the 125th anniversary of IEEE celebrations from IEEE-GCUF Student Branch.
That's how IEEE-GCUF celebrated IEEE 125th anniversary hyperactively.
