GOLD Lahore Talk at LUMS: Global Financial Crisis 2008 & its impact on Pakistan
When we organized Mr. Nauman Saeed Anwar (Ex-Chair, IEEE-NUCES LHR and Ex-Chair, IEEE Lahore GOLD)’s talk at FAST-NU Lahore, we received some emails in feedback that we should have hold this talk at LUMS. As soon as we got to know that the speaker has increased his stay in Pakistan for a week, we requested him to deliver the talk again at LUMS. He very kindly agreed.
This talk was about the "Global Financial Crisis 2008 & its impact on Pakistan". The presenter is a graduate of FAST-NU (2005) and is currently a student of Master in Business Administration from University of Calgary Haskayne School of Business with dual specialization in Finance and Global Energy Management with Sustainable Development. He was previously working for Pakistan Mobile Company Limited (Mobilink) as Integration Analyst.
Abstract of the talk was that the global meltdown in 2008 was in the making since 2001. Financial Gurus had already predicted that the markets would fail, but none paid attention in the arena itself. The meltdown was further escalated by the $150 barrel of oil. This discussion was based on how the crisis unfolded and what impacts it holds for Pakistan. The second part was about how Central Banks in the world dealt with the crisis along with what we did in Pakistan, as well as the way ahead.
The question answer session was better than of the talk held at NU Lahore. IEEE Lahore GOLD Team would like to thank Nauman Saeed for his valuable time as well as the student branch of IEEE at Lahore University of Management Sciences for facilitating this activity at such a short notice.
